CTBT Science & Technology Conference 2021 (SnT 2021)
From 28 June to 2 July 2021, the sixth CTBT Science & Technology Conference will bring together (psychically and virtually) over 1000 scientists, technologists, academics, and representatives of the CTBTO. The aim is to enhance the capabilities of the Treaty’s verification regime and to help move the Treaty closer to universalization and entry into force.
Strengthen the engagement of young scientists
One of the SnT Conference objectives is to broaden and strengthen the engagement of the scientific communities working in test ban monitoring, including young scientists, and to enhance the geographic and gender representations of these communities. We therefore encourage members of the Young Professionals Network to participate. The call for abstract is open and the submission deadline is 30 November 2020.
The abstract (maximum 200 words) should include the appropriate theme and topic of your presentation, as well as the preferred format (oral or e-poster presentation). In addition, authors are required to submit a simple description (maximum 280 characters) outlining the abstract’s main contribution to the SnT2021 objectives. The selection of abstracts will be based on quality and relevance to the themes and topics of the conference.
The themes for SnT 2021 are “The Earth as a Complex System”, “Events and Nuclear Test Sites”, “Verification Technologies and Technique Application”, “Performance Evaluation and Optimization”, and “CTBT in a Global Context”. The full Scientific Program is available as a PdF file at the bottom of the article.
We encourage you to participate in the SnT. At the SnT 2019 members of YPN from the Namibian, Dutch, and Norwegian NDCs presented a joint project and found it fun and interesting to work together. Please let us know if you decide to do so, and also let us know if you think we can be of any assistance.
Flexible conference structure
It is currently planned for SnT2021 to be hosted at the Hofburg Palace in Vienna, Austria, featuring a virtual component for active online participation. The structure of the conference will remain flexible to adapt for future changes of COVID-19 restrictions.
